Sigma 18-35 f1.8: RRP of €999, Available End of July!

Ten days ago Sigma commented on price and availability of the 18-35mm f1.8 lens, undoubtedly much to the regret of many fans of speculation. 🙂 The matchlessly fast APS-C-Zoom is supposed to be launched at the end of July at a RRP of €999 in Germany. In absolute terms, this is indeed a lot of money, but taking a closer look at the fast standard zoom, you’ll instantly see that the cost-benefit ratio is more than good.

But as we know, the retail price hardly ever matches the RRP. Waiting a bit longer will be worthwhile, as usual. Before reaching into your wallet and citing Fry from Futurama, you should definitely have a look at some sample images and browse a few (p)reviews of reliable sources. The first available photos and tests look pretty promising already.

According to SLRGear, the 18-35mm f1.8 has a more delicate resolution at equal focal distance than the outstanding Sigma 35mm f1.4! Yes, you were reading correctly, a zoom beats the best fixed focal length in its class. This is one for the books! 🙂
