Just like on my last photo tour, I’ve had the DP3M and the Marumi +5 this time with me as well. Shooting macros with this little set-up is a lot of fun. With the achromatic lens on the DP3M you can achieve a max. image ratio of around 1:1.6. Compared to a DSLR with a 1:1 macro lens you are not sacrificing that much on the enragement front, but you are reducing the weight that you have to lug around considerably. And the best thing, as soon as you stumble upon a motif that doesn’t need a macro lens, you can take of the Marumi in about 2 seconds, and you are ready to roll. OK, that sounds like a feature, but the truth is, you HAVE to take the Marumi off, otherwise the DP3M won’t focus beyond 30-50cm (I didn’t take a measure). 😉
It doesn’t bother me, because I’m aware that a small package with this kind of macro power has to have a “catch”. 😉
As always, you can view full resolution images on flickr. Have fun! 🙂
