I’ve taken so many pictures of cats and dogs lately, that I completely forgot the rich variety of many other gorgeous creatures on our blue globe. I have to admit that I am a big fan of tender loving care and that I could never fully take to animals that cannot be petted, such as fish. With the following photos of Siamese fighting fish (betta splendens), photographer Visarute Angkatavanich succeeded in getting me enthusiastic about them. For an hour now I have been googling the gracious fighters to get to know more about them. 🙂
An aquarium with a fighting fish in blue/red would really be beautiful. The question is, with what other fish can the males coexist? I am aware that you can only have one male in the aquarium, but there seems to be quite a number of “incompatible” fish. Not even with females can they easily coexist. Many other fish remind them of other fighting males and there seems to be a number of fish that like to nibble at their beautiful fins…does anyone have a Siamese fighting fish they can report about?
