It is a terrible damage the snow chaos caused in the state of New York, especially Buffalo. As severe as the current situation may be for the people on-site, the beauty of some shots going round the internet now cannot be denied. Especially impressive I found the embedded video below by Jim Grimaldi from West Seneca, a Buffalo suburb. The 4k-video was shot on Tuesday, when the amount of fresh snow came to 10cm/hour. For comparison: over here, the highest warning level (violet) is already given for fresh snow amounts of 25cm within 12 hours. 😉
Not any less interesting are the pictures by Derek Gee, main photographer of the Buffalo News, which have been taken with a phantom drone just like Jim Grimaldi’s video. Despite the anger and negative media coverage of drones, the small flying machines seem to be highly useful. In future, I believe we’ll see many more such impressive shots that couldn’t be taken without drones.
