Paying tribute to the great renaissance and baroque painters has been a wish of photographer Freddy Fabris for a long time. However, he wasn’t quite sure about how he could fulfill that dream till he discovered a car repair shop in the American Mid-West by coincidence. With the help of a team of eager and eccentric auto mechanics he succeeded in imitating some of the most popular paintings of those two epochs – including monumental works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarotti and Rembrandt van Rijn – aesthetically and humorously. Below I’ve attached the three pictures I consider his best. 🙂

The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp by Rembrandt van Rijn

The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo Buonarroti

Apart from these group photos, Fabris also shot some pictures that have been inspired by Rembrandt’s individual portraits, such as his Man in a Golden helmet.

This is great Lars. How do you always manage to find such interesting stuff?
Every single day I visit a couple of photography related websites, like dpreview, petapixel, heise (a German site), and some others. I do it either in the morning while drinking coffee or after work.
