Today SIGMA announced a new lens: It’s an ultra-wide-angle lens of the Art series! We’re very excited already.
For the past years SIGMA has been working on two ultra-wide-angle lenses with the important focal length of 14mm at the same time. Last year we were already happy about the 14mm fixed focal length with an open aperture of F1.8! The market launch of the F2.8 DG HSM | Art hasn’t been announced yet, however, we already received the positive news about another lens from the high-quality product series.
The new lens both reduces distortion and provides a top light intensity of F2.8, covering the entire focal length range and offering an overwhelming image quality with every focal length and every shooting distance. These are only few reasons that, according to the manufacturer, make it an ultimate powerful ultra-wide-angle zoom lens.
The zoom lens was produced for cameras with 50 MP and more and is supposed to guarantee excellent optical performance for the entire fixed focal length range. Thanks to an optimized optical system lateral chromatic aberration and other optical image errors can be reduced, which guarantees top high-resolution image quality.
Furthermore, Sigma has also announced a front swap service. On request the fixed installed lens hood of the lens can be removed and swapped with a round lens front. Thus the company seeks to please VR developers and the multi-camera videography industry because shadowing can be avoided.
Another advantage of the new lens, according to the manufacturer, is the seals of the lens. Like SIGMA lenses of the Sports series, the 14- 24mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art lens is also dust and splash proof. This enables photographers to shoot under all weather conditions.
Finally, I want to give you some technical details:
