The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 Sports is a favorite of various rumor websites. It’s a lens that still has not hit the market, despite said websites posting that “it will be announced soon” numerous times in the past two year. According to photorumors.com it’s different this time around and it will be announced for sure ahead of Photokina. That this lens is going to get introduced and sold is absolutely certain, because Sigma has already patented an optical formula for such a lens some time ago.
With 25 elements (if I haven’t lost count) the optical design is very complex, which should translate into good image quality. We will see when and in what shape it will hit the market. The optical formula and exterior design of the lens are not set in stone with a patent alone. Hopefully the waiting will come to an end soon. 🙂
- It has improved the camera operation in low temperatures. Inconsistent performance of the viewfinder, main display, shutter and image saving has been improved.
I haven’t encountered any such behavior. Not even at sub-zero temperatures.
