Sigma just patented two F1.2 lenses for MFT and released firmware updates for several products


Once again Sigma has patented two lens designs for the micro four thirds mount. This time around the designs pertain to two extremely fast primes with f/1.2 aperture, a 14mm f/1.2 and a 35mm f/1.2. As is to be expected with extremely fast lenses such as these, the designs are very complex with 17 and 18 elements respectively. You can see them down below. 14mm is on the left, 35mm on the right.

43rumors.com is speculating that these could again be designs made on behalf of Panasonic. Again because the Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 12mm f/1.4 ASPH was designed by Sigma. 😉

Also very interesting are firmware updates for 7 lenses, the MC-11 adapter and EF-630 flash, which sigma released the day before yesterday. In all the cases updates are either making the lenses in question compatible with the MC-11 or fixing certain bugs. Here are all the changes at a glance:

ELECTRONIC FLASH EF-630

It has corrected the phenomenon where it occasionally stops communicating after recovering from Auto Power Off.

MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11

It has become compatible with the SIGMA 70mm F2.8 DG MACRO

It has become compatible with the SIGMA 105mm F1.4 DG HSM

Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM A013

Now Compatible with Sigma Mount Converter MC-11.

Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM A017

It has corrected the phenomenon that the Manual Override (MO) function will be disabled after adjusting the settings of focus mode switch on SIGMA Optimization Pro (Macintosh ver.).

Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM A012

Now Compatible with Sigma Mount Converter MC-11.

Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM A014

Now Compatible with Sigma Mount Converter MC-11.

Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG HSM A016

It has corrected the phenomenon that the continuous shooting speed of some SIGMA interchangeable lenses with firmware Ver.2.00 decreases in certain combinations with some cameras.

It has corrected the phenomenon that the continuous shooting speed of some SIGMA interchangeable lenses with firmware Ver.2.00 decreases in certain combinations with some cameras.

Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM C017

It has corrected the phenomenon that the Manual Override (MO) function will be disabled after adjusting the settings of focus mode switch on SIGMA Optimization Pro (Macintosh ver.).
