Taking photos on the way to…

Are you in the habit of always taking your camera with you, regardless of whether you are on your way to work, running errands or going to the doctor? I almost never do it. The gear that I prefer to use doesn’t fall into the “always with you” category. A Sigma sd Quattro with a lens is a bit larger than your typical cell phone or compact camera. 😉

An acquaintance of mine always says that that is how you get the most interesting motifs in front of you camera. But he is a street photography. If you, however, almost never take pictures of people, you can’t really expect to miss many photo ops “on your way too…” The better you know the way, the lower the chances of seeing anything, which would trigger your snapshot reflex. Sometimes you don’t even get to turn on the camera. Having lugged your photo gear, you do feel a bit annoyed afterwards. That being said, this exercise is far from pointless. You do learn to find beauty in ordinary things and you do end up burning more calories. 🙂
