Above the clouds – or almost, at least

350 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10118 – 102 floors above the ground – 443 meters to the top of the antenna of New York’s most famous skyscraper. The Empire State Building!

Without any doubt it’s one of the most popular sights in the city and definitely worth a visit! Climbing up to the rooftop of the Empire State Building, in my opinion, is an absolute must on every trip to the metropolis. Millions of people from all over the world rush to the Fifth Avenue every day to admire the city of all superlatives, the city that apparently makes all dreams come true, from above.

On my latest (and so far my only) trip to New York I also climbed on top in order to see this amazing city from a new perspective. Well equipped with my Sony Alpha 7R II, the MC 11 converter and my Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG HSM lens I ventured both on the viewing platform on the 86th and on the 102nd floor.

A 360° panoramic view all over Manhattan. The Chrysler Building, the southern tip of Manhattan with the Statue of Liberty and the Flat Iron Building are only some of the countless sights we all know so well from movies and television.
